Village Angler Bass Fishing Guide Service

Lake Deaton
Lake Deaton

Lake Deaton: (Approx. 900 acres) is a dishpan shaped natural lake averaging 5-6 feet in depth at normal pool, with 8-10 feet in the open water mid areas of the lake. Its bottom is composed of a sandy loam strata, laden with silt and muck on all but the southern central shoreline of the lake. Lily pads make up the primary type of vegetation, with some areas so dense that navigation is impossible.

The primary source of inflow is Evans Prairie to the north, located south of CR 466A in the Villages. Explosive residential development, coupled with declining water table levels, will eventually reduce Lake Deaton's inflow to its inherent springs, and rainfall/runoff. The water quality of Lake Deaton is only FAIR. The small established lakefront community of Lake Deaton spans the southeastern shoreline and sports two, short resident canals.

PUBLIC ACCESS: Lake Deaton Park has limited grass parking for boat trailers, with paved parking, a porta potty, and two covered pavilions for sight-seers, picnics, and dock fishermen.
