Lake Hatchineha: (Approx. 6000 acres) is the 4th southernmost lake on the Kissimmee Chain of Lakes, located entirely in Osceola County, and averages 6 to 8 feet at normal pool. It connects to Lake Cypress to the north via the 2.3 mile long Hatchineha Canal, and to Lake Kissimmee proper via a 4 mile section of the Kissimmee River at the southeastern end of the lake.
The primary emergent aquatic vegetation types in Lake Hatchineha are cattails, Kissimmee grasses, maiden cane, lily pads, pepper grasses, and bull rushes. Invasive Hydrilla grasses are kept in check through periodic eradication programs sponsored by the State of Florida.
